Herman Douglas Wilson, “Doug”, age 71 of Moorefield, WV departed this life on September 12, 2023. Born on January
4, 1952, in Petersburg, WV, he was a son of Dorothy Lee (Vetter) Sherman (husband Tude) of Moorefield, WV and the
late James Herman Wilson.Abrother, Mark Wilson also preceded him in death.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his children, Douglas “Ryan” (Aly) Wilson of Baker, WV and DeAnna Marie
Wilson (Jeff) of Moorefield, WV; seven grandchildren, Blake, Lee, Cayleigh, Harper, Seth, Shane and Holly; two sisters,
Debbie Wilson (Gale) of Harrisonburg, VAand Pam (Dane) Schell of Stephens City, VA; a brother, Brodell Wilson of
Wardensville, WV; numerous nieces and nephews and a life-long friend, Randy Wilson.
Doug often claimed he was from “Tuff” holler, a moderately private person who liked the simple things in life. A
carpenter by trade as well as a handyman, he could do anything he set his mind to do. An avid outdoorsman, he could
often be found riding his side by side or scouting the woods for fresh deer sign. An excellent shot, he often joked that he
could split the hair on a gnat’s ass at 400 yards. He shared his love of hunting with his children and taught them how to
hunt and enjoy the outdoors as much as he did.
