Violet K. Whetzel, 80


Violet Geneva Ketterman Whetzel, age 80, of Petersburg, W.Va. died Thursday, July 19, 2007 in Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home, Keyser, W.Va.

Mrs. Whetzel was born November 3, 1926 in Moorefield, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late John Adam Ketterman and Bessie Parker Ketterman.

She was a seamstress for Joan Curtis Sewing Factory and also worked in housekeeping at the Grant County Nursing Home in Petersburg, W.Va. She was a member of the Brake Church of the Brethren, Dorcas, W.Va.

Her husband, Tony Conway Whetzel, preceded her in death on July 20, 1985.

Surviving are a son, Joe C. Whetzel of Arthur, W.Va.; a daughter, Carol J. Bland of Arthur, W.Va.; four sisters: Janet Bible of Arthur, W.Va. (whom she raised), Margaret Miller of Charles Town, W.Va., Linda Ours of Moorefield, W.Va., and Ruth Ours of Scherr, W.Va.; four brothers, Stanley Ketterman of Dorcas, W.Va., Arno Ketterman of Dorcas, W.Va., Roy Ketterman of Fisher, W.Va., and Olin Vernon "Buck" Ketterman of Moorefield, W.Va.; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

The Revs. Ken Burkhart, Lee Cullers and Lynn Rorhbaugh will conduct the funeral at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, W.Va. Burial will follow in Brake Cemetery in Dorcas, W.Va.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Schaeffer Funeral Home.
