Geraldine R. Toms, 84, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023.
Born on April 1, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Kemper Alden Rodes
and Stella (Duncan) Rodes of Afton, VA.
She graduated from Nelson County High School, and was a longtime member
of Lebanon Presbyterian Church in Greenwood, VA.
Gerry was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, James Orville
Toms, Sr.; a dear twin sister, Erline Rodes Spell; 2 brothers, Alden Rodes and
Philip Rodes.
Survivors include 3 children, Greg Toms and wife Kathy of Fishersville, James
O. Toms, Jr. and wife Ann of Troy, VA, and Carolyn Toms Montgomery and
late husband Don of Waynesboro, VA; grandchildren, Bryan Zimmerman and
wife Denise of Waynesboro, VA, James O. Toms, III and wife Amy of White
Post, VA, Lanora Clarridge and husband Ian of Ashburn, VA; and 6 great-
grandchildren.
Gerry enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and will be greatly
missed.
A memorial service is planned for a later date and will be announced.McDow
