Maggie Hubbard Strickland, 96, of Waynesboro passed to her eternal home with Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior on Thurs-
day, August 24, 2023 at Presbyterian Village in Austell, Georgia.
She was born on February 27, 1927 to Robert John and Gayle Grubb Hubbard in Chatham, Virginia.
Maggie was a graduate of Callands High School in Callands, Virginia and Madison College in 1949 with a BS in elementary
education. She taught first grade and kindergarten in the Waynesboro School System until she retired in 1981. She loved to
teach children how to read.
She married Gordon Wesley Strickland on April 8, 1955. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage and after his death, she moved to
Presbyterian Village in Austell, Georgia to be near her son.
She was an active member of Wayne Hills Baptist Church where she loved to teach children and adults the gospel of Jesus
Christ.
She will be greatly missed by: her two children, Helen (Rob) Johnson and Robert (Tammie) Strickland, her grandchildren:
Kate (Dave) Clinton, Charles (Suzanna) Johnson, Anna (Deke) Pyle, Timothy Johnson, Emma Johnson, Beth Johnson, Annie
Strickland and Wesley Strickland, and her great grandchildren: Phoebe, Whitaker, Maggie and Evelyn Pyle, Clara and Viviana
Clinton, and Robert Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers. She was the last surviving member of her genera-
tion of her family.
A private graveside service will be conducted at Augusta Memorial Park. Pastor Danny Campbell will conduct a Celebration
of Life Service at Wayne Hills Baptist Church at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 8, 2023.
