Shirley H. Showalter, 67


Shirley Hopkins Showalter, 67, a resident of 3600 Cable Drive, Harrisonburg, died Dec. 24, 2005, at Journey’s Crossing Home, where she had been residing.

Mrs. Showalter was born Jan. 24, 1938, in Rockingham County, and was the daughter of the late William Howard and Vivian Byerly Hopkins.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Fairview Church of the Brethren.

In 1956, she married Garland P. Showalter, who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Suzanne Johnson, Harrisonburg; three brothers, Garrold Wayne Hopkins and Delaney Hopkins, both of Harrisonburg, Billy Hopkins, Tennessee; and two grandchildren, Steven Johnson and Allison Johnson.

The Rev. Johnny Byerly will conduct a graveside service Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Singers Glen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7-8 at the McMullen Funeral Home, Harrisonburg.
