Velma M. Shoemaker, 93


Velma M. (Fulk) Shoemaker, 93, of York, Pa., passed away Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Country Meadows, West Manchester Township.

She was the wife of Ernest "Glen" Shoemaker, who died in 1983.

Mrs. Shoemaker was born in Fulks Run on Oct. 16, 1917, daughter of the late Samuel R. and Pammie (Richie) Fulk.

She was employed as a seamstress by the former Danskin Inc., from which she retired.

Velma attended Faith and Truth Assembly in Thomasville, Pa.

Survivors include three children, Janice V. Kohler of York, Ernest E. Shoemaker and his wife Helen of Dillsburg, Hank P. Shoemaker and his wife, Lois of New Oxford, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and a sister, Alma Ray, of Virginia. She was preceded in death by a son, Winston E. Shoemaker, a daughter, Glenna M. Saylor, five brothers, Melvin, Elmer, Bill, John and Floyd Fulk, and three sisters, Virgie Miller, Ruth Marshall and Goldie Shoemaker.

William H. Miller, husband of granddaughter Debra, will officiate a funeral service at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2011 at LeRoy R. Leber Funeral Home Inc., 2290 School St., York, Pa. (Shiloh).

Final resting place will be in Shiloh Cemetery. There will be no viewing or visitation.
