Margel Lee Shockey, age 87 of Shockey Road, Old Fields, WV, passed
away Thursday evening, January 12, 2023 at Hampshire Memorial Hospital
in Romney, WV. Born on July 22, 1935 in the Durgon area of Moorefield,
WV, she was a daughter of the late Eugene Strife Crites and Ida Mae
Crites Crites. Her husband, Roy Price Shockey preceded her in death in
February 2015. She was also preceded in death by five sisters and five
brothers. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Margel was a member of the Moorefield Church of the Brethren and
attended the Old Fields Baptist Church. She loved her cat, that over time
and after many aliases was eventually named “Roy”. She had a natural gift
of gab so to say, always chatting with the family and the neighbors. She
enjoyed reading her Bible and listening to Sunday services on the radio.
Her ultimate love was WWE wrestling, so whatever you did, you did not
interrupt her screen time with them, especially the Uso's and Roman
Raines in which she called him "Ramone."
Surviving is a daughter, Regina (Gary) Nesselrod of Old Fields, WV; a
grandson, Gary “Bud” (Savanna) Nesselrod, Jr. of Martinsburg, WV and
Gail Sager of Morgantown, WV; two great-grandchildren, Sadie & Wyatt
and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted 1:00 PM Monday, January 16, 2023 at
the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street with Pastor Dan
Howard officiant. Interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery, Old Fields,
WV. The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 PM Sunday at the funeral
home.
