Sandra Shingleton-Salyers, 61, of Winchester, VA, passed away the evening of September 19, 2023 at Winchester Medical
Center, Winchester, VA.
Sandra was born April 20, 1962, to Eleanor June Smith and the late Garland Madison Shingleton.
She attended James Wood High School, received her LPN Diploma from Dowel J. Howard Vocational School and earned
a Registered Nursing degree from Regency College. Sandra served her community as a nurse for more than 25 years, as
a CNAInstructor for over 5 years and as a school bus driver for four years. She is cherished by her family and
remembered as a devoted wife, daughter, sister, and aunt.
Sandra is survived by her husband, Gerald Salyers, her mother, Eleanor June Dennis, stepfather Janney Dennis, and
siblings, Bruce Shingleton, DeboraAllder and Eric Shingleton. She is also survived by four nieces, Whitney Doyle,
Chelsey Griffith, Emily Allder and Alexis Shingleton, and nephew, Colton Shingleton. Sandra is survived by her
stepchildren, Dustin Salyers, Morgan Salyers and Troy Salyers, and 6 step grandchildren. Sandra is preceded in death by
her father, Garland Shingleton.
Sandra found joy in seeing her family, especially her nieces, nephew, great-niece, and great-nephews. She loved traveling
and spending time with her husband and dog, Oscar. Sandra loved the beach and enjoyed watching soap operas, game
shows and classic, old movies. Sandra also loved traveling through the mountains via steam engine.
ACelebration of Life will be held at McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, WV on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 2:00 P.M.
with Pastor Robert Schoeman officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 – 2:00 pm.
All arrangements are being handled by McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, WV.
