Anna Rose Shane departed this life at Blue Ridge Hospice in Winchester, VAon Wednesday, September 6, 2023.
Amemorial service will be held Friday, September 15, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Stover Funeral Home forAnna and her daughter
Jan Roberts, Rev. Dr. Franklin S. Roberts will be officiating.
Anna was born April 22, 1944, in Strasburg, VAto the late Robert Louis and Catherine Virginia Williams Newman. In addition
to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Herman Ray Shane. Sadly, her daughter Jan R. Roberts (Newman)
passed the day after her.
Anna attended Sunset School in Strasburg and also Douglas School in Winchester. She loved cooking and baking during work
and at home. She loved sharing her baked goods with her neighbors. She was a very quiet woman and was fashionable. She
loved her family and work family.
She worked at Wayside Inn for over 20 years as a head chef. She was featured in Southern Living Magazine and other local
cookbooks. She extended her culinary skills to Paper Mill Restaurant and ended at Winchester Medical Center.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children Lloyd Newman and Sarah Lee Newman; her grandchildren Allyssa Natale and
Anthony Natale; great grandchild Jaxon Natale; siblings Louis Newman of Strasburg, Rebecca Findley of Winchester, and Cindy
Williams of Fredericksburg. The Newman family will truly miss Aunt Fuzzy.
