Chester W. Seilhamer, 91


Chester W. "Ted" Seilhamer, 91, of Coffman Nursing Home in Hagerstown, Md., and formerly of Marsh Pike in Hagerstown, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006 at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown. He had lived at the nursing home for almost two years.

Mr. Seilhamer was born May 23, 1915, in Quincy Twp., Franklin County, Pa., and was the son of the late Harry and Nora Blanche Frey Seilhamer.

He retired from the Potomac Edison Company and General Motors Corp. Frigidaire Division after 44 years of employment. He graduated from Quincy High School in 1934 and from Coyne Electrical Institute in Chicago in 1936.

Mr. Seilhamer was a member of the Broadfording Church of the Brethren Fellowship of Cearfoss, Md. In is younger years, he served as a Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher and deacon in the Church of the Brethren. He was a member of the Potomac Edison Forerunners Club and the National AARP.

His wife, Fern Harshman Seilhamer, preceded him in death March 19, 1989.

Survivors include two sons, Don H. Seilhamer of Waynesboro, Pa., and the Rev. Larry C. Seilhamer of Petersburg; a sister, Ruby Shindle of Williamson, Pa.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Pastor Len Smith will conduct the funeral 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, at Broadfording Church of the Brethren Fellowship in Hagerstown, Md. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro, Pa.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, Pa., and at the church one hour before the service.
