Mary B. Scott, 91


STAUNTON, VA - Mary Evelyn (Bell) Scott, 91, widow of Alfred Scott of 613 Grubert Ave., died Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, in Ruxton Health of Staunton.

She was born Jan. 3, 1917, in Stuarts Draft, a daughter of the late Charlie Stewart and Jannie Bell.

Mrs. Scott was a homemaker and was a member of the Senior Citizens Club. She was a member of the Mount Salem Baptist Church, where she was "Mother of the Church" and a member of the choir.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Harold Randolph Bell; a brother, Lee Roy Parrish; a sister, Cornelia S. Scott; and two grandchildren, Paula Brown and Marion Wells.

Family includes two sons and daughters-in-law, Alfred N. and Gabriele Scott of Staunton and Reginald E. and Mia A. Scott of Harrisonburg; two daughters, Evelyn G. Scott of Staunton and Martha J. Scott of Harrisonburg; nine grandchildren, Martha Ann Scott, Brian M. Scott, Antwainette M. Tyler, Brandy R. Fuller, Angela R. Johnson, Harold Randolph Wells Jr., Connie Bell, Virginia Vaughn, and Michelle Hawkins; 39 great-grandchildren; a number of great-great-grandchildren; and many other family members.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Dr. Floyd Miles. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Alfred N. Scott, Reginald E. Scott, Marvin H. Scott Sr., Junior A. Scott, Earl R. Scott, and Eugene F. Scott Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Robert N. Scott, Richard Morgan, Paul Williams, and Shannon Redmon.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, in the funeral home and other times at 2310 Davis St., Staunton.
