Charles M. Royer Jr., 80
Charles Menafee Royer Jr., 80, of Grottoes, passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at the Veteran's Medical Center in Salem.
Mr. Royer was born on April 29, 1929, in Grottoes, and was a son of the late Charles Menafee Sr. and Ollie Morris Riddle.
Charles was a carpenter for many years, working for Brown and Root. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.
On April 11, 1952, he married Pearl Dean, who preceded him in death in 2008.
Mr. Royer is survived by three daughters, Sheila Ford and husband, Charles, of Port Republic, Tawnya Landes, of Mount Crawford, and Tonjay Losey and husband, Marlin, of Bridgewater; two sisters, Juanita Via, of Grottoes, and Mary Catherine Smith, of Bridgewater; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 19, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Pastor Dee Floyd officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
