Sylvia Jean Roadcap, 78, of Waynesboro, passed away on Sunday, October 22nd, 2023 at Augusta
Health in Fishersville.
Sylvia was born in Staunton to Ralph Coffey and Mary (Willis) Coffey on December 21st, 1944. Sylvia will
be remembered as a loving wife and a fierce and dedicated mother of five, who deeply loved her
children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved being outdoors and working with flowers,
but was also a competitive and talented driver, winning the inaugural powderpuff stock car race at
Eastside Speedway.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents.
Sylvia is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Billy C Roadcap; her children, Annette Carpenter
with fiancé Bruce Wiseman of Waynesboro, Billy Roadcap Jr with wife Elizabeth of Waynesboro, Mary
“Fanny” Kurz with husband Matthew of Waynesboro, Marsha Roadcap with husband Rudy Sprouse of
Waynesboro, and Sharon Deaver with husband Howard of Waynesboro. In addition, Sylvia is survived
by her grandchildren; Jamie Helmick, Jason Sayre, Brad Sayre, Derrick Rankin, Dustin Roadcap, Cecilea
Henderson, Sara Carpenter and Callie Deaver; as well as numerous great grandchildren. She is also
survived by a brother, Ralph Coffey Jr with wife Linda; and sisters, Linda Faust with husband Jimmy
and Melody Cason with husband Bobby, all of Waynesboro; as well as many nieces, nephews and
friends.
Following cremation, the family will receive friends on Monday, October 30th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes for a time of fellowship and
remembrance.
