Julia Ellen Rice, age 53, of Petersburg, WV passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Winchester Medical
Center, Winchester, VA. She was born on June 26, 1970, the daughter of Elwood Glen Keplinger of Petersburg, WV
and the late Mona Florence (Walker) Keplinger. She is survived by her boyfriend, Marty Stupak of Petersburg.
Ms. Rice attended school in Moorefield, Brandywine, and Petersburg, WV and also attended school in Greenville,
PA. She formerly attended the Brake Church of the Brethren and was a member of the CVO Women’s Club. Julia
had previously worked as a store clerk and at Pizza Hut in Petersburg. She was a woman of many talents who
enjoyed; making crafts, necklaces, coloring, pottery, and painting. Julia also had a passion for being in the great
outdoors. She loved animals, fishing with her friends, and riding 4-wheelers. Family and friends will take comfort in
memories made for a life well lived.
In addition to her father and boyfriend, she is survived by: a son, Steven Glen Rice of Petersburg, WV ; a brother, Dale
Walker of Petersburg, WV; a cousin, Shelia Propst of Upper Tract, WV; and friend and caregiver, Laura Alexander of
Upper Tract, WV. She was preceded in death by a brother, Glen Edward Keplinger.
Julia’s family will receive friends on Monday, October 30, 2023, 4:30-6 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in
Petersburg, WV. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 PM with Pastor Craig Howard officiating. Following services,
