Kermit McKinley Redman, Sr., age 83, of Franklin, WV, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at his home.
He was born on February 23, 1939, in Petersburg, WV, the son of the late Mabel (Washington) Redman and the late
Emmit Redman, Jr. Kermit's wife and best friend of 50 years, Pam (Moats) Redman, who survives in Franklin.
Mr. Redman attended Petersburg High School and a community college in California. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and
watching westerns. Kermit had worked for 33 years as produce manager at Franklin IGA.
In addition to his wife, Kermit leaves behind to cherish his memories: 2 daughters, Rhonda Junaid (MJ) of Whichita,
KS, Erlanda Redman-Moats (Allen) of Harrisonburg, VA; 3 sons, Marty Moats (Lorraine) of Broadway, VA, Wayne
Moats (Jo) of Colorado, Kermit Redman, Jr. of Franklin, WV; 5 sisters, Pamela Hott (John) of Petersburg, WV, Brenda
Johnson (Reg) of Keyser, WV, Melodea “Peach” Eversole (Glenn) of Maysville, WV, Darlene “Dee” Dunn of
Connecticut, Silvia “Eileen” Saunders (John) of Fredericksburg, VA; a brother, Clarence “Doug” Redman (Beth) of
Arthur, WV; 19 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a
great-grandson, Malakai Wright; and a sister, Mary Jane Redman.
Mr. Redman's family will receive friends on Monday, October 31, 2022, 5-7 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in
Franklin, WV. A graveside service will be on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Rest Haven Memorial
Gardens, North Valley Pike (Route 11) Harrisonburg, VA. Memorials may be made to the family in memory of Kermit,
