Joan Marie Posselt, of Harrisonburg, VA formerly of Moorefield, WV passed
away Friday afternoon, January 13, 2023 at Virginia Mennonite Retirement
Community in Harrisonburg, VA. Joan was born October 31, 1933 to William
and Mary Humlhanz, the youngest of five children in Bucks County
Pennsylvania .
Joan graduated from Central Bucks High School in 1951 and began working
with NJ Bell in Chalfont as a Temp before marrying in 1952. Shortly
afterwards, she became the mother of two children, Scott and Barbara. At
that time, she enjoyed attending Phillies Baseball and Eagles Football games.
She was the scorekeeper for her son's Little League Baseball Team; sang in
the local episcopal church choir. Years later, as her first marriage ended, she
became a career girl again with Verizon Communications, formerly NJ Bell in
NJ. It was there she met and married her soul mate William Posselt.
Bill and Joan enjoyed forty-five blissful years of marriage, devoted to each
other and also best friends. She enjoyed traveling, making it all the way to
The Great Wall of China. Joan was a talented seamstress and enjoyed
painting. For the past twenty-five years the two lived in Moorefield, West
Virginia, having said that living here were the best twenty-five years of their
entire lives. Joan was a spirited, very good soul, deeply loved. She was one
who definitely followed her own path in life and will be greatly missed.

Wilson & Wife Rochelle Wilson, New Paltz NY; a step-daughter, Mary
Katherine O’Sullivan and her husband Peter O’Sullivan, Naples, FL; a step-
son, William Posselt, Keyport NJ; a daughter, Barbara Habegger & Husband
Duane Habegger Houston, TX; Joan’s & Bills Grandchildren, Jeremy Van
Sciver, Toms River NJ, Cory Van Sciver, Virginia Beach, VA, Danielle Wilson,
New Paltz, NY, and Peter O’Sullivan, Elizabeth O’Sullivan, Katherine
O’Sullivan, Naples, FL.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 18,
2023 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street with Pastor
Cindy Skinner officiant. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until
