Charles Dean Pike, 74, of Midlothian, VA, formerly of Baker, WV, passed away the morning of Friday, September 1, 2023.
While there is plenty to say about this man and his life, we wanted to share what he showed us and taught us. He showed us
how to be a joyful parent, and how to delight in playing and adventuring with his kids. He demonstrated character and
leadership. He was responsible, accountable, and hard-working…he also loved good puns. He taught us to set the bar for our
lives by ourselves, and to set it high. He was smart, a creative problem-solver and thoughtful man. He could straighten any nail
and reuse it in any project: from a treehouse to a conversion van, nothing went to waste and nothing he built broke! Mostly, he
showed us how to love. He will be greatly missed.
Charles is survived by his wife, Cynthia Tusing Pike; his three children and their spouses, four grandchildren, two brothers,
nieces, nephews, and friends. Agraveside funeral will be held in Rock Oak Cemetery on Friday, September 8th at 11am with
military rites accorded by the U.S. Coast Guard.
We would like to express our deepest thanks to Debbie Stewart who provided him with warm comfort and care over these last
two months as well as James River Home Hospice who supported not just his last few weeks, but ours as well. Notes of
sympathy, love and support can be sent to Cynthia Pike, 1713 Stonemill Lake Ct., Midlothian, VA23112.
All arrangements are being handled by McKee Funeral Home, Baker, WV.
