Roger F. Montgomery, 71


Roger Franklin Montgomery, 71, a former resident of Harrisonburg who had been living in Martinsburg, W.Va., for the past five years, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at Winchester Medical Center. He had not been well for the past 10 months.

Mr. Montgomery was born Nov. 5, 1936, in Virginia and was the son of the late Franklin Montgomery and Helen Sutton Montgomery Carrier.

He served in the Army and the Marine Corps during the Korean War, where he received several Purple Hearts. Following his discharge he made his home in Northern Virginia prior to moving to Martinsburg, W.Va. He earned his master's degree and for many years worked in the automotive field as a warranty manager. He then worked for Lab Corp as a billing specialist.

On Feb. 14, 1986, he married Judith M. Tuttle Montgomery; she survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Cynthia Montgomery of Springfield; two sons, Michael Tuttle of Bunker Hill, W.Va., and Steven Tuttle of Battlement Mesa, Colo.; two sisters, Barbara Elyard and Linda Harper, both of Harrisonburg; two brothers, Donald Montgomery of Waynesboro and Lawrence Carrier of Broadway, and three grandchildren.

His body will be cremated at the Lindsey Cremation Chapel in Harrisonburg. The Rev. Clarence Moyers will conduct a memorial service 11 a.m. Saturday from the Chapel of the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the funeral home.
