Joe E. Miller Sr.

Joe E. Miller Sr., 61, a native of Harrisonburg, died Thursday, March 4, 2004, at Springhill Memorial Hospital in Mobile, Ala.

Mr. Miller was born April 23, 1942, in Harrisonburg, and was the son of the late Edgar Warren Miller and Mary Catherine Barnhart Miller.

He retired March 27, 2001, as a firefighter for the City of Mobile after 27 years of service. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1964.

On Dec. 30, 1963, he married the former Carolyn Joyce Evans, who survives.

He is also survived by a daughter, Glenda Lee Miller Brandenburg of Walnut Hill, Fla.; two sons, Charles Warren Miller and Mark Wayne Miller, both of Mobile, Ala.; three sisters, Vada Mae Brooks of Hinton, and Ruth Ann Wine and Ruby Lee Minnick, both of Harrisonburg; 12 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Kenneth G. Purcell will conduct a memorial service today at Radney’s Funeral Home in Mobile, Ala. A graveside service will be held at Pinecrest Cemetery in Mobile.
