Barbara Massie, 95 of Stanardsville, Va. went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 14, 2023 in
Charlottesville, Va. She was born on May 9, 1928 to the late Edward Blakey and Rebecca Gordon Blakey. She was also
preceded in death by a daughter, Deloise Williams; sons, Allen, Donald, and Perry Massie; brothers, Keith, Howard, John,
James, and Daniel Blakey; sisters, Virginia Jackson, Cereather Smith, Ruth Blakey Waller, Martha Slaughter, Salley
Thompson, and Mary McCullen.
She is survived by her daughters, Lula Burley, Barbara Brock, both of Stanardsville, and Florence Tibbs of Charlottesville;
daughter-in-law, Peggy Massie of Elkton, twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and eight great-
great-grandchildren.
Afuneral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 722 Simmons
Gap Road, Dyke, Va. 22935 with interment in church cemetery. Pastor Owen Johnson will be officiating. The family will
receive friends one hour before the service, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church.
