Marion E. ‘Barry’ Martin, 69


Marion Earl “Barry” Martin, 69, of Grottoes, died, Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.

He was born in Grottoes, on July 27, 1938, and was a son of the late Nathaniel and Ruby (Mace) Martin.

Marion was a retired drywall contractor. He attended the Full Gospel Church.

On Sept. 19, 1959, he was united in marriage to Maxine (Grimm) Martin, of Grottoes, who survives.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Mary Darlene Whitesell and husband, Kevin, of Stuarts Draft; a son, Terry Lynn Martin and wife, Sarah, of Harrisonburg; two sisters, Sharon Sickler of Maryland and Patricia Troxell of North Carolina; two brothers, Donald Martin of Grottoes and Gary Martin of Grottoes. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Jessica Lynn Whitesell of Stuarts Draft, Jeremy Ours of Grottoes and Terry Lynn Martin Jr., currently serving in Iraq.

A funeral service will be held at Johnson Funeral Service Grottoes Chapel, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, with the Revs. William Strickler, Eugene K. Souder and Charles W. Clinedinst officiating. Burial will follow Port Republic Mutual Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Johnson Funeral Service in Grottoes, or any time at 713 Augusta Ave., Apt C 17.
