Beverley Ann (Shifflett) Marcum, 76, wife of James Fred “Jim” Marcum of 700 Mount Tabor Road in Staunton,
passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022 at her residence.
Mrs. Marcum was born in Staunton, Virginia on September 8, 1946, a daughter of the late Lewis Miller and
Virginia (Warren) Shifflett.
Mrs. Marcum was a member of Middlebrook Church of God where she was a former children’s Sunday school
teacher and was formerly employed with Woodrow Wilson Birthplace. Beverley enjoyed flower and vegetable
gardening and traveling.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Marcum was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Allen Shifflett.
Surviving in addition to her husband of fifty-eight years is a son, Timothy Grant “Tim” Marcum and his wife
Crystal “Chrissy” of Greenville; a daughter, Annette Dawn Coffman and her husband Andy of Verona; two brothers,
David Lewis Shifflett and his wife Sandy and Kenneth Wayne Shifflett and his wife Faye both of Staunton; one sister,
Mary “Squirrley” (Shifflett) Lambert; two grandchildren, Amanda
Borden and her husband S.J. and Travis Marcum and his wife Tylar; four great-grandchildren, Jake Borden, Lainey
Borden, Wyatt Marcum and Carson Marcum; and her pet dog “Petie”.
A Memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 in the Middlebrook Church
of God by Pastors Larry Strickler, Merle Dodson and Allen George.
The family will receive friends following the service.
Mrs. Marcum’s family wishes to express their sincere love and appreciation to her sister-in-law, Dixie Parrish, to
The Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah, and Dr. Rob Marsh and Associates for the care shown and given to
her during the past several months.
