Beloved artist, wife, sister, friend, Lise Prudhomme MacGregor, age 68, passed to the next stage of life at home on
October 18, 2022. Her lifetime love and husband of 46 years, Hamilton MacGregor, who she met her first day of
college, has been her loving caregiver and soul mate throughout her life. She was the youngest daughter of Roy and
Mary Jo Prudhomme and younger sister to Joel and Cindy. On her side of the family, she has 5 nieces, who love her
dearly as an awesome, crazy-fun Aunt, and 7 grandnephews. On Hamilton's side she has a sister-in-law and her
husband, brother in-law and 2 nieces and a nephew who all love and will miss her.
She grew up in the Denver area and from a young age made friends who have remained close to this day. The
family was moved to Waynesboro when she was 13yo when Roy was transferred there by General Electric. After
graduating from Waynesboro High in 1972, she attended Virginia Tech for 2 years as an art major. She again made
many good friends in High school and college that remained close throughout her life. Friends fondly remember
with smiles on their faces their crazy and wild escapades as rebellious carefree teens generating tons of laughter
and memories. She created some similar laughs with her nieces but, thankfully, not so wild.
After leaving Virginia Tech, when Lise was 20, she and Hamilton went to Grand Junction Colorado, where her
brother and sister were living. It was there that she began suffering from health issues that required her to go to
Sacramento CA, where her parents had moved and good medical help was available. Lise was deathly ill for a while
before she was diagnosed with Lupus and possibly rheumatoid arthritis and began the courageous battle to thrive
in spite of these debilitating diseases. While in Sacramento, Lise and Hamilton got married at a wedding chapel in
Reno. Soon after, Ham joined the Marines where he served for 24 years.
She continued her artistic expression trying stained glass and began doing drawings of people's homes. During
Hamilton's time with the Marines they were moved many times, living in Southern California, Okinawa, Northern
California, Norfolk (which was Hamilton's home city), Alexandria VA, and Beaufort SC. After Hamilton retired, they
moved to Grand Junction, Colorado, where her parents and brother and his family were living.
In Grand Junction Lise took classes in different art media and quickly discovered pastel was the media that she
loved and brought out her best artistic talents. Beautiful paintings were flowing from her which she entered in art
shows where she has won over 100 ribbons, in some cases Best in Show or Grand Champion in prestigious events.
She became a member of the Pastel Society of Colorado and was president of the Palisade Art Lovers where she
managed a large annual juried art show in Western Colorado for 8 years. Her art endeavors have been facilitated
and made possible by her supportive husband. Lise's art has been shown in many venues and galleries resulting in
a vast following of people who love her art. She shared her talents by teaching pastel art classes to other budding
artists and hospice patients. Through her talents and loving personality, she developed a rich circle of artist friends
throughout the country and even internationally who nurture and support each other in many ways.
Lise and Hamilton moved back to Waynesboro about 4 years ago to re-connect with their circle of dear, long-time
friends. They have had an opportunity to reminisce, laugh, celebrate holidays, make music together and, in her last
days, hug, cry, and say goodbye.
Lise's extraordinary courage and fight allowed her to stay functioning, productive, positive, happy and loving, in
spite of the trauma of her multiple surgeries, physical limitations, discomfort/pain, the ravages of
rheumatoid arthritis, and loss of youthful dreams and aspirations is an inspiration to everyone. She was a
survivalist par none and admired by everyone who knew her and the rough road she has had to travel while she
remained cheerful and giving.
Even with her own physical disabilities and health issues, and while creating a passel of art work, she was the
emotional and care giving rock for her aging parents in Grand Junction as they went through the decline of aging
and death.
There is a vast hole in the earthly universe with Lise's passing. She made it her mission to bring a daily laugh to
everyone through posting of jokes displaying her clever and dry wit. The loss will be felt deeply by her devoted
husband, immediate family, extended family and dozens of friends from youth, artist friends, a multitude of medical
people who have worked with her over the decades, and hundreds of Facebook friends.
If there were a star in the sky for each person who has known and loved her, there would be a new Lise Galaxy,
filled with beauty, love, humor and awe.
Because of Lise's love of animals, she has requested no flowers and any donations on her behalf be made to: (the
