Haller O. Layman, 82


Haller Owen Layman, 82, of Dove Farm Lane, Broadway, Va., died Dec. 13, 2005, at Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born Oct. 8, 1923, in Rockingham County, and was a son of the late Paul and Mary Branner Layman.

He worked for Riddleberger Brothers for 15 years before retiring. He had previously been a manager for Rockingham Poultry Hatchery in Broadway. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and a member of Mayland Christian Church.

On Oct. 8, 1948, he married the former Helen Lawson, who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Steve Kisling of Keezletown; two brothers, Mitchell and Carroll Layman, both of Broadway.

Pastor William Staton Jr. will conduct a funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens chapel in Harrisonburg. Burial will be at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
