Ralph Landis, Jr. age 85 of Petersburg, WV passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Fairmont Medical
Center, Fairmont, WV.
Ralph was born on May 12, 1937 in Riverton, WV and was the son of the late Ralph Landis and Mary Kerlin
(Sponaugle) Landis.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Landis and John Landis and two
infant brothers; one sister, Kitty Ann Simmons (who died August 18, 2022) and an infant sister.
Ralph is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jane (Welton) Landis; two sons, Richard Thomas Landis (Joanna) of
Morgantown, WV and Michael Ray Landis (Louise) of Petersburg, WV; four grandchildren, Thomas Joseph Landis,
Andrea Nicole Landis, Giovanna Rose Landis and Jonathan Michael Landis; one great grandson, Grayson Cole
Campbell; four brothers, Robert Landis (Wanda) of Franklin, WV, Jimmy Landis of Michigan, Olin Landis (Doris
Elaine) of Franklin, WV and Larry Landis (Lynn) of Jackson, MS; one sister, Dolly Jean Neilson of Franklin, WV and
numerous nieces and nephews.
Ralph was an Army Veteran in the Vietnam War. He was a truck driver for Wilson Trucking and an automobile
mechanic for Pendleton Motors in Franklin, WV. Later Ralph and his brothers were operators of Landis Brothers
Service Center in Franklin. In 1980 Ralph and his family moved to Petersburg and continued farming operations.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
