James L. Knicely, 70


James Luther Knicely, 70, of 824 Hinton Road, Dayton, died Thursday, March 1, 2007, at his home.

Mr. Knicely was born Jan. 30, 1937, and was a son of the late Dewitt P. and Alda C. Shank Knicely.

He suffered a spinal cord injury in July 1989. He was a farmer and a member of Riverdale Old Order Mennonite Church.

On Dec. 10, 1958, he married the former Martha L. Showalter, who survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Rosa Martin and Marjorie Showalter, both of Bridgewater, Evelyn Shank of Dayton and Lois Martin of Harrisonburg; three sons, Warren Knicely of Harrisonburg, Milton Knicely of Mount Solon and Philip Knicely of Dayton; a sister, Anna Lee Knicely of Dayton; five brothers, Charles D. Knicely, Lowell Knicely, Frank Knicely and Daniel Knicely, all of Dayton, and Raymond Knicely of Weyers Cave, and 37 grandchildren.

The ministers of the church will conduct the funeral 10:30 a.m. today (Saturday) at Riverdale Old Order Mennonite Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

His body has been taken to his home, where friends may call at anytime.
