James Irving Knicely, 85, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Brookdale Assisted Living in
Harrisonburg. Mr. Knicely was born on March 9, 1937 in Rockingham County and was the son of the late James Madison and
Iva Waggy Knicely.
James served our country in the United StatesAirforce where he spent much of his time in England. Following his service, James
taught middle school and high school students in northern Virginia.
On June 12, 2021, RebeccaAnne Raines Knicely, his wife of 49 years preceded him in death.
James is survived by his siblings, Gene Knicely, Linda Knicely Carrier, Alma Knicely Blankenship and numerous extended
family members.
Amemorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Vision of Hope Church with Pastor Joe Shoop
officiating. Inurnment will take place at Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church Cemetery. Kyger Funeral Home
