David Francis Kennedy, 52, of Mathias, WV passed on September 17, 2023, at his beloved home after a long battle with
cancer. He was born on March 8, 1971, in Wilmington, DE. He was the son of the late Joyce Marie Foley and the late
David Joseph Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Francis and Mary Ann
Kennedy, paternal grandparents Harold and Sara Smith, late wife Anne Colinco-Kennedy, extended family, and teammates
who served in the United States Navy with him. His favorite horse, Gabriel, and many cherished pets were there to
welcome him on his next adventure.
David is survived by his wife Sara Harper-Kennedy, sisterAnnemarie Kennedy Taylor of Mathias, WV, stepparents Ray
and Marti Foley of Wilmington, DE, stepmother Eileen Corrigan Smith of Wilmington, DE, stepson, Matthew Grimm and
wife Josie Salcedo of Charlottesville, VA, and stepson Terrance Grimm of Timberville, VA. He is survived by a great
number of friends human and animal alike.
By his choice, David will be cremated. Amemorial service to honor his life and accomplishments will take place on
Saturday, October 7, 2023 at the Tenth Legion Mt. Valley Ruritan, 1037 MauzyAthlone Rd, Broadway, VAat 2 pm with a
meal to follow.
