Joseph G. Kagey

Joseph George Kagey, 92, of Dayton, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

A son of the late William Otis Kagey and Lucy Hedrick Kagey, he was born Aug. 6, 1909, in Dayton, Va.

Mr. Kagey lived his entire life in Dayton, where he graduated from Dayton High School and Bridgewater College. He was Territory Manager for New Idea Farm Equipment Company until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of Dayton United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Dayton Ruritan Club.

On Nov. 26, 1936, he married Virginia Joseph Kagey, who preceded him in death on Nov. 10, 1998.

Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, William J. and Mickie Kagey, Roanoke; J. Robert and Jackie Kagey, Sudbury, Mass; James M. and Denise Kagey, Marietta, Ga.; seven grandchildren, David Kagey, Jennifer Faison, Steven Kagey, Michael Kagey, Sara Kagey, Daniel Kagey, Anne Kagey; two great-grandchildren, Emily Elizabeth Kagey, John Patrick Faison and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marietta Kagey and Alma Kagey.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at 11:00 from the Dayton United Methodist Church with the Rev. James L. Mahaffey officiating. Burial will follow in the Dayton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 7-9.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Dayton United Methodist Church or Bridgewater College in his memory.
