Chandra Kay Johnson, 51, a resident of Waynesboro, VA, passed away
peacefully Jan 2, 2023 at her home, surrounded by family.
She was born September 8, 1971 in Falls Church, VA, daughter of Larry and
the late Doris (Fisher) Johnson.
Kay was a graduate of Wilson Memorial High School Class of 1992. She
enjoyed many things from Old Westerns, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and
keeping up on the weather. At a very young age she fell in love with dolphins
and they became her favorite animal. Kay was active in the Special Olympics
where she won countless medals and awards over the years, and even
attending their Christmas dance with her boyfriend, Allen, Dec 17th. She lived
with her caretakers Tabitha and Kenny Humphries for many years and
cherished them as family, our family is especially thankful to them.
She was preceded in death by her mother Doris Robertson, paternal
grandparents, Reynolds and Susan Johnson, maternal grandfather, Doug
Fisher, and Virgil and Beverly Reynolds
Surviving are her father, Larry Johnson and his wife Bonnie; five brothers,
Daniel Johnson (Teresa), Keith Fields (Amy) and Matthew Johnson (Claudia),
Daniel Reynolds, Dale Reynolds and one sister Loribeth Reynolds.
A graveside service will be held 11:00AM Jan 5th at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian
Church Cemetery, Steeles Tavern officiated by Pastor Bill Jones.
In Lieu of Flowers the family request any contributions to stay in the local area
Special Olympics. Donations can be made in Kay’s name to the Special
Olympics- Area 5, P.O. Box 1381, Waynesboro, VA 22980.
