Albert Oscar Humbertson, Jr, age 89, died on Tuesday, November 1, 2022
in Staunton, Virginia. He was a resident of Brightview Assisted Living. He
was born in Cumberland, Maryland on September 30, 1933. He was the
oldest of four children.
Albert is survived by his two daughters Allison Humbertson of Staunton,
Virginia [children Galen/Savannah (children Eli and Garrison), Evin/Allison and
Mara], and Melinda (David) Fackler of Cocoa, Florida [children Jordan
(child Azazel) and Brandon], his sisters Marcia Anderson and Patty Ewing,
and brother, Dan Humbertson. Albert is preceded in death by his wife,
Esther (Cain) Humbertson; his daughter, Deb Corder; his mother, Eloise
(Daniels) Humbertson and; father, Albert Oscar Humbertson, Sr.
As a child, Albert's family relocated to West Virginia where he graduated
from Parkersburg Highschool. Albert married his highschool sweetheart,
Esther (Cain) Humbertson, who passed away November 17, 2019. They
were married for 63 years. Albert completed his bachelor's degree at
Marietta College, continued graduate studies at the University of Kansas
that led him to his Ph.D in Anatomy at The Ohio State University where he
taught for over 30 years. After his and Esther's move to Virginia, he taught
another 10 years at the University of Virginia.
Deep gratitude goes to his caregivers at Augusta Health (Doctors/Nurses
and Staff) and University of Virginia Health, Augusta Health Palliative Care
(especially Dr. Turner and staff) and Augusta Health Hospice of the
Shenandoah (Heather, Heidi, Debbie, Dennis and Staff) as well as immense
support from Joyce and Kathy from Valley Program for Aging Services.
Thanks also goes to Brightview Assisted Living who provided him with
the best of care.
In lieu of a service, celebrate his and Esther's life by donating your time,
home and/or resources to your local animal advocacy organization. This
would support their love and passion for pets - we love you Daddy!
