Ruth Marie Hesse, age 96 of Maysville, WV passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022 at Grant Rehabilitation and
Care Center in Petersburg, WV.
Ruth was born on April 5, 1926 in Jordan Run, WV. She was the eldest daughter of the late Otto Hesse and Delia
(Getz) Hesse. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her youngest sister, Norma Jean Lough.
Ruth is survived by one sister, Twila Hesse of Maysville, WV.
Ruth attended the Eureka School on Jordan Run, WV and graduated from Petersburg High School in 1946. She
remained on the family farm with her sister Twila and took care of her parents. The Hesse sisters, as they were
affectionately known, continued to run the family farm 30 or more years after the death of their parents.
Ruth was an avid quilter for more than 70 years. She made several hundred quilts which went to all parts of the
United States. She also finished scores of quilts that other people had pieced.
She was a cherished member of the Brick Church of the Brethren and had received a Sunday School Award for 43
years of perfect attendance.
Funeral service will be Sunday, October 23, 2022 at 2 p.m. at the Brick Covenant Brethren Church with Pastor Randy
Cosner officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in the Maysville Cemetery.
