Mary Virginia ‘Jimmie' Hensley, 95


Mrs. Mary Virginia "Jimmie" Hensley, 95, a resident of Harrisonburg, died at 4:00 Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 19, 2010, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

A daughter of the late Augustus M. Chapman and Mildred Bulis Chapman Sorrow and stepdaughter of the late W.L. "Skip" Sorrow, she was born on April 9, 1915, in MacCrady, Va., in Smythe County.

Mrs. Hensley was a member of Hunting Creek Baptist Church at Big Island, Va.

Her husband, Darwin L. Hensley, preceded her in death in September 1995.

She is survived by one daughter, Nyla Kayren "Kaye" Hensley Boyers and husband, O.A. "Sonny", of Harrisonburg; one son, Dr. E. Dean Hensley and wife, Kathy, of Big Island, Va.; four grandchildren, Jessica V. Hensley of Seattle, Wash., Edward L. "Chip" Boyers and wife, Jessica S., of Penn Laird, Christopher A. "Chris" Boyers of Charlottesville and Lee S. Hensley and wife, Misti, of New Windsor, Md. She also leaves eight nieces and 10 nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Barbara N. Hensley and Nancy B. Hensley, both of Big Island, Va. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Edward M. Chapman.

Her body was cremated at the Lindsey Funeral Home and Crematory.
