Briget Lynn (Scott) Hayes, 47, a resident of Waynesboro, Virginia, passed away
Monday, January 16, 2023 at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
She was born November 18, 1975 in Waynesboro, a daughter of the late
Tommy and Linda (Conner) Scott.
After graduating in 1993 from Wilson Memorial High School, she pursued a
career helping others that were less fortunate as a very caring LPN. As a co-
owner of a residential facility for the mentally challenged, she selflessly
demonstrated her care and devotion to those in need.
Briget loved making memories with her family and friends, and touched the
hearts of everyone she met.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her maternal
grandparents, Curtis and Ruth Conner; paternal grandparents, Roy and Ruth
Scott.
Surviving are her loving husband of 27 years, Dennis Hayes of Waynesboro; 2
sons, Dylan Hayes and his wife Israel of Staunton, and Jacob Hayes of
Waynesboro; grandson, Arthur Hayes; 2 brothers, Travis Scott and Tyler Scott;
several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog “Precious”.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until service time of 1:00 PM
Friday, January 20th at McDow Funeral Home. Gary Major will officiate and
interment will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Tyler Scott,
Jason Gaylor, Kevin Greene, Tony Conner, Matthew Smiley, Dylan Hayes, and
Travis Scott.
In keeping with Briget’s loving spirit, it is kindly asked that in lieu of flowers that
memorial contributions be made in her name to the Autism Research Institute,
491 Hillsdale Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
