Obituary Transcript  if Available

Mildred Ann 'Millie' Harrison of BelAir, MD and Crozet, VApassed away peacefully on October 21, 2023. She was a devoted
sister, mother , and grandmother, and beloved by all who knew her.
A native of Baltimore, MD, Millie traveled the world as an adult, moving her family 12 times and creating a loving
home and community every time.
Millie was a lifelong learner, and as a career elementary school teacher in Maryland, Georgia, and New Jersey, she
influenced hundreds of children over five decades. Millie was a loving mother, an inspirational teacher, and a tireless
volunteer (Ladies of Charity at St. Stephen Church and the Bel Air Woman’s Club). She was an avid reader, who loved
Broadway shows, jigsaw puzzles, and making birthday and holiday cards for her friends and family.
Millie is survived by her brother Frank Heine and his wife Ann Marie; her son Kurt Harrison and his wife Linda and
their children Andrew, Matthew, and Lindsey; and her daughter Kristin Downey and her husband Shane.
Millie loved to read and the first thing she did upon moving to Virginia was to get her library card. She was a regular
patron of the Crozet Library and circled the day the Bookmobile would visit her community on her calendar.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Jefferson Madison Regional Library in honor of Millie
Harrison.
