Deborah Ellen Sager Gochenour, 59, of Woodstock, passed away Saturday,
November 5, 2022, at her home. A service will be held Wednesday, November 9,
2022, at 3:00pm at St. Mary’s Pine Lutheran Church in Mt. Jackson. A private burial
will be held at Sunset View Memorial Gardens. Vicar Steve Povlish will officiate.
Mrs. Gochenour was born April 18, 1963, in Woodstock, daughter of the late Eugene
K. Sager and Mary Jane Barb Sager. She was a 1981 graduate of Central High
School. She retired from Shenandoah County Public Schools after 20 years and
worked at Creekside Plain and Fancy Catering. She was a member of St. Mary’s Pine
Lutheran Church in Mt. Jackson.
She is survived by her husband Gerald D. Gochenour whom she married on July 17,
1982; daughter, Dana N. Gochenour (Benjamin Sine); brother, Dwight E. Sager
(Sheryl); nephew, Eugene P. Sager (Jessica); and sister, Stephanie Shillingburg.
The family would like to thank Shanae Strosnider and Viola Shipp for their devoted
care of Debbie.
Debbie was also blessed by many special friends including school coworkers,
friends from elementary and high school, catering friends, and shopping friends.
Pallbearers will be Jay Ross, Cody Ross, Michael Clem, David “Porky” Edmonds,
Jeremy Edmonds, and Josh Edmonds.
