Thelma Margaret Jennings Gianniny, 90, of Charlottesville, passed away on January
18, 2023. Thelma was born on November 21, 1932. She was a daughter of Russell
and Pansy Wood Jennings, and was married to her loving husband of 58 years,
Claude Gianniny, who predeceased her inAugust 2011. Claude and Thelma were
blessed with a wonderful son, Chris Gianniny and his wife, Kimberly, of
Charlottesville.
She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Roger Gianniny and wife, Brenda; a sister-
in-law, Jacqueline; a special niece, Pamela Bingler and husband,Aaron; a niece,
Deborah Shifflett; and wonderful friend, Gloria Nelson and husband, Tommy.
Thelma graduated from Lane High School and worked for the Charlottesville school
system, after retiring she spent a great deal of time working in the house and yard.
One of her main loves was meeting her friends for lunch and outings. Thelma wanted
to say ‘Good-bye friends’.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Heartland Hospice and Morningside of
Charlottesville for all the wonderful care and support they provided her while under
their care.Agraveside funeral service will be held at 2p.m. Tuesday, January 24,
2023, at Monticello Memorial Gardens in Charlottesville.
