James Woods Garth IV, of Waynesboro, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022, he was 80 years old. James was born on
July 22, 1942 in Charlottesville, to the late James Woods Garth III, and Sarah F. Johnson Garth.
Mr. Garth was known to many as a kind and patient man, and a quick friend. An avid fan of UVAand the Dallas Cowboys, he
was also a classic car buff. In addition, he LOVED to play golf. But above all, James was a family man at heart.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Stephanie “Liz” Garth and their daughters: Tina K. Reynolds (Thomas), L.
Suzanne Ortiz (Jorge), and Mallory P. Garth; his siblings: David H Garth (Sharon), Jane Elliot (Robert), and Ginny Green
(Anders). He was also blessed with many grandchildren and their families:Ashley (Jeremy) and their son Kyle, Dustin
(Amanda) and their children, Caleb, Brooks, and Mia, Lance, Erin (Carson) and their children Cash and Cruz, and David. He is
also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Avisitation for family and friends will be held at Hill and Wood Funeral Home, Charlottesville, Va. from 6PM to 8PM on
Thursday, October 20, 2022. AMemorial service will be held at Noon at Mt. Olivet Presbyterian church on Friday, October 21,
2022; burial will be private.
