Obituary Transcript  if Available

Ricky Wayne Floyd of Fishersville peacefully entered the arms of Jesus on Monday evening, October 24, 2022,
surrounded by his loved ones. Ricky was born in Staunton, VA, on May 15, 1960, a son of the late Arnold R. Floyd and
Ruby T. Floyd.
He was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes at the early age of five. He fought the long, hard battle all his life; now
the “chains are broken and he is free!”
Ricky was a 1978 graduate of Waynesboro High School and went on to work as an electrician, and due to his
declining health, he retired from North Anna Power Plant. Ricky’s passion was baseball and softball. He could not
wait until he was old enough to play Little League and continued to play through the Babe Ruth League. After he was
unable to play any longer, he loved coaching his daughters’ softball team. His other passion was dogs. He loved
them all and they all loved him.
Survivors include his devoted and loving daughters, Tiffany (Jamey) Sensabaugh and Trish (Jason) Floyd; his
grandsons, in whom he found great delight, Tye, Carter and Gabe Sensabaugh, and Colton Mathews; his brother, Gary
(Crystal) Floyd; sisters Debbie (Allen) Todd and Kathy (Chris) Berrang. He is also survived by eleven nieces and
nephews who always referred to him as the “fun uncle”. They are Derek Floyd, Tammi Glover, Kyle Floyd, Kelsie
Szabo; Jenny Lowenstein, Alyssa Turner, Lucas Todd, Matthew Berrang, Mark Berrang, Kristin Berrang, and Jonathan
Berrang. He was preceded in death by his niece, Leslie Todd Corliss. Ricky is also survived by the mother of his
daughters, Carla Floyd.
A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of McDow Funeral Home, Waynesboro, on Friday, November 4, 2022, at
2:00 p.m., with Pastor Greg Mayo officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Augusta Dog Adoption
at https://www.augustadogadoptions.org/.
The family would like to thank all his caregivers at Shenandoah Nursing Home who took such loving care of him for
the past 4 years. We would also like to thank his longtime friend, Greg Mayo, for being such a blessing to Ricky and
all of us - his family. McDow Funeral Home
