Victor R. Drewry

Victor Randolph Drewry, 68, a resident of Mount Crawford, passed away at his home on Saturday, May 12, 2012, after a brief battle with cancer.

He was born April 12, 1944, in Colorado Springs, Colo., and was a son of the late Lyman Aubrey Drewry Sr. and Evelyn Hawthorne Drewry.

Victor served in the U.S. Army and had lived in the area for the past 30 years. He was a graduate of Virginia Tech and was farm manager on various beef cattle farms.

On April 29, 1967, he married the former Anita Comer, who survives.

He is also survived by two sons, Andy Drewry and wife, Waynesa, of Staunton and Dale Drewry of Sterling, Va.; a beloved granddaughter, London Drewry; a brother, L. Aubrey Drewry Jr. and wife, Elizabeth, of Birmingham, Ala.; three sisters, Brenda Steele and husband, Tom, Linda Lundy, Deborah Cox and husband, Kenny, all of Roanoke; a sister-in-law, Judy Drewry of Fincastle, Va.; a stepmother, Pearl Myers Drewry of Roanoke; numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Charlie Comer and wife, Sandi, of Midlothian, Va.; and a special friend, Nancy Flippo.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Drewry, and a brother-in-law, Mike Lundy.

The family will receive friends from10 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012, at the Lindsey Funeral Home in Weyers Cave. Burial will be private.
