Roy E. Dovel
Roy Elmo Dovel, 77, of 778 Aylor Grubbs Ave. in Stanley, died Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at Page Memorial Hospital in Luray.
Mr. Dovel was born Dec. 27, 1927, in Stanley, and was a son of the late Ezra M. Dovel and Beulah Florence Housden Dovel.
He was a member of Leake’s Chapel Church of the Brethren. He was a manager at Page Co-op Farm Bureau in Luray for many years and was also an inspector for William T. Hazel Inc.
On Aug. 9, 1950, he married Betty Lee Stroupe, who survives.
He is also survived by a daughter, Pamela D. Goff of Faber; six brothers, Ervin E. Dovel, Earl W. Dovel, Bobby L. Dovel and Charles Dovel, all of Stanley, and Randolph Ezra Dovel and Roger D. Dovel, both of Shenandoah; three sisters, D. Louise Maher of Naples, Fla., G. Kathleen Shomo of Shenandoah and Maxine D. Viands of Vienna; two grandchildren and one stepgrandchild.
Pastor Joseph "Jodie" Hendricks and the Rev. Charles R. Turner will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Friday at Leake’s Chapel Church of the Brethren, where the body will be taken this morning.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 this evening at the church. Friends may also call at the Dovel home at any time. Burial will be at Leaksville Cemetery in Luray.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Stanley Rescue Squad.
Arrangements are by the Bradley Funeral Home in Luray.
