Mildred F. Davis, 87


Mildred Florence Boyers Davis, 87, of Lacey Spring, died Oct. 19, 2008, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. She had resided with her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Anna Davis.

She was born Jan. 29, 1921, in Rockingham County, and was a daughter of the late Other D. and Ollie V. Lawson Boyers.

She had worked as a clerk at the 7-Eleven on Chicago Avenue in Harrisonburg. She was also a cook at the Bar-B-Q Ranch for a number of years. She had attended Mount Tabor United Methodist Church.

She was married to Ralph O. Davis, who preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 1964.

She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Deborah and Gary Smith of Linville, Sherry Ritchie of Lacey Spring; two sons and daughter-in-law, Robert Davis of Broadway, Ronald and Anna Davis of Lacey Spring; three sisters, Maxine Thomas and Agnes Smith, both of Harrisonburg, Janet Blosser of Wrightsville, Pa., 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Roger Davis, and two grandchildren, Brian and Michael Ritchie.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Grandle Funeral Home Chapel in Broadway. Burial will be private at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg.

The family will receive friends following the memorial service.
