E.L. (Edward Lewis) Davis, 75, of Keezletown, was welcomed by Jesus peacefully in his sleep on September 26, 2023. He had
fought a good fight against dialysis and bone cancer for the last nine months, and now has a new body, free of pain. He had
served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966-69 with 13 months in Vietnam and was very proud of his service.
He loved his family with all his heart. E.L. is survived by his wife of 50 years, Diana LynneArmentrout Davis, who was also
his caregiver; two sisters-in-law and their spouses, Cheryl Foley and husband, John, and Bonnie Jordan and husband, Fred; his
mother-in-law, GeraldineArmentrout; his wonderful nephews and nieces that he adored, BJ and Kelly Smith and daughter,
Kahlyn, Joe and Stephanie Smith and children, Ayden, Eastyn, and Layla, and Will and Amanda Foley and adopted in the heart
nephew and nieces, Rob and Amber Dean and daughter, Everly. Three other adopted in the heart sons and daughter are Charles
Fisher, Kevin Sutton, and SheinaAlger.
He was also very grateful to Dr. Christian Iudica, Dr. Andrew Waligora, Dr. Terry Overby, Dr. Larry Bompiani, and Dr.
Jefferson Prichard, as well as Natalie and Terry at Davita, and Cristi and Amber at the Hahn Cancer Center.
E.L. was a longtime member of the Keezletown United Methodist Church, where a celebration of life will be held on Saturday,
September 30, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. by Pastor Joel Robinette, with a meal to follow. There will be a private burial service after
which the family will greet guests before and after the celebration service. Ameal will be provided by KUMC following the
service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Keezletown United Methodist Memorial Fund at KUMC,
1456 Indian Trail Road, Keezletown, VA22832, or to the Wounded Warriors Project.
Alarge thank you to the Harrisonburg Rescue Squad, and Deputy Sheriff Matt Browning, for their kindness and caring. E.L.
was a wonderful man, who touched many lives with his laughter and smile. He will be missed, but we know his soul lives on in
a greater place with his father-in-law, Bob, whom he adored, and with his dearest
friends, Wade Armentrout and Dave Loker. Our hearts are sad, but his love lives on in each of us until we see him again. To
God be the Glory.
