Mary R. Cramer, 83


Mary Ruth Cramer, 83, of Bridgewater, passed away Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at her home.

She was born in Augusta County on April 20, 1927, and was a daughter of the late Ernest H. and Mary S. (Sheets) Terry.

Ruth worked as an interior decorator and as a substitute teacher. She was a member of Summit Church of the Brethren, where she was a deaconess and a Sunday school teacher.

She was united in marriage on Sept. 30, 1943, to Leland Keith Cramer of Bridgewater, who survives.

Surviving in addition to her husband, are five children, Keith Cramer and wife, Mary, of Mount Sidney, Bill Cramer and wife, Betty, of Bridgewater, Ruth Anne Cramer of Bridgewater, Lisa Crider and husband, Randy, of Harrisonburg, and Joy Dexter of Bridgewater. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law, Peggy Good and husband, Rodney (special caregivers) of Weyers Cave, Bonnie Craun and Charlotte Gutschall, both of Staunton, and special friends, Margaret Miller, Shauna Michael, Amy Powers and Margaret Lutterschmidt.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, William Bartley "Bart" Cramer, a great-grandson, Charles O. Volpe, six brothers and three sisters.

A funeral service will be held at Summit Church of the Brethren at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, with the Rev. Cole Scrogham and the Rev. Steve Spire officiating. Burial will follow at Summit Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater.
