Juanita 'GG' Singleton Cowling, 99, of Waynesboro passed away on Saturday , January
14, 2023 at her residence.
Mrs. Cowling was born on September 13, 1923, in Red Jacket, West
Virginia, and was a daughter of the late Lloyd Beckwyth Singleton and Hazel
(Barrett) Singleton Griggs. Juanita was a self-employed Hairdresser for more
than 40 years, serving the Virginia Beach community. She was “GG” to all
her grandchildren. Possessing a strong moral compass and generous heart,
Juanita was a motherly presence to countless family and friends.
Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Emery “Buck” Cowling,
Jr, a long-time business promoter in Tidewater.
She is survived by her children, Lloyd Cowling and wife Sandra of Narrows,
VA, Brenda Cowling of Lyndhurst, Linda Christensen and husband Andy of
Bowling Green, VA; grandchildren, Isis Cowling, Robert Christensen, Brinton
Eckles, Ashley Wolfe; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Juanita was preceded in death by
two sisters, Kathryn and Joy Ann, and a brother, Lloyd.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at 11 AM at
Riverview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5 until 7 PM at
the Waynesboro Chapel of
Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
