Marie V. Comer, 78


Marie V. Comer, 78, Shenandoah, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at her home following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Comer was born Feb. 4, 1928, in Elkton to the late Floyd and Reba Lam Grimsley.

Mrs. Comer graduated from the Shenadoah High School and was employed by Merck & Company, a substitute teacher and school bus driver for Page County Schools, Alliance Manufacturing and RMH. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Shenandoah, Avis O. Comer VFW Auxiliary Post 8613 and a lifetime member of the Shenandoah Rescue Squad.

On June 1, 1948, she married Robert Franklin Comer Sr., who preceded her in death on May 10, 1995. She is survived by a son, Robert F. "Bobby" Comer Jr. and special friend, Jane Jenkins, Shenandoah; a daughter, Susanne "Susie" Comer and special friend, Calvin "Jug" Short, Shenandoah; one brother, Donnie Grimsley, Shenandoah; a sister, Mildred Latimer, Rochester Hills, Mich.; sister and caregiver, Barbara Payne, Shenandoah; two grandchildren, Denise Meadows, Vanessa Foreman; three great-grandchildren, Lyndsey Foreman, Natalie Foreman and Evan Rudolph.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2006, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Elkton with Rev. Carter Dean, Rev. Richard Kerfoot and Rev. Larry Hensley officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Lebanon Cemetery in Comertown.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:30 to 8 at the funeral home in Elkton and at the Comer home at any time.
