Samuel S. Coffman

Samuel Swope Coffman, 89, formerly of Harrisonburg, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at Ruxton Health of Staunton.

Mr. Coffman was born Aug. 10, 1914, in Rockingham County, and was a son of the late Homer W. and Ella Frances Swope Coffman.

He was employed at various jobs including Shenandoah Equipment, Farm Bureau and Shenk Hatchery. He was also a guard at National Bank and Eastern Mennonite College. He was a member of Weavers Mennonite Church.

On Nov. 19, 1952, he married the former Ina Rhodes, who survives.

He is also survived by a brother, Paul Coffman of Harrisonburg; two sisters, Naomi Swartz of Harrisonburg and Phoebe Coffman of Dayton; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Jeff Kauffman will conduct a graveside service 4 p.m. Wednesday at Weavers Church Cemetery.
