Carolyn Allen Claytor, 80, of Crimora, went to be with her Lord, peacefully, surrounded by family on Tuesday, Oct. 24,
2023.
She was born on April 15, 1943 in Waynesboro, daughter of the late Alvin E. and Margaret H. Allen. Carolyn was a
graduate of Waynesboro High School. She was a member of Hopeman Parkway Church of God. She was a loving
wife, mother, grandmother, and loved being a stay at home Mom raising her 3 daughters. Her daughters loved it
too. Previously, she had worked at High’s Ice Cream, Kroger, and G. E. Carolyn enjoyed reading, music, TV, and
eating out.
Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years, Oliver, 3 daughters, Michelle “Shelly” Hall, Kenny of Elkton, Tonya
Mutherspaw, Ricky of Swoope, Jody Bryant, Scottie of Verona; 2 grandchildren, Ryan McLaughlin, Belén of
Waynesboro and Dylan Dever of Verona; a brother Charles Allen of North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by 2 grandsons, Philip and Tristan McLaughlin.
The family would like to thank caregiver, Darlene Hamilton and Hospice of the Shenandoah for the great care they
gave Carolyn.
There will be a graveside service at Augusta Memorial Park on Tuesday November 1, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. officiated by
Pastor David Clinedinst.
Arrangements are being handled by McDow Funeral Home.
