Sally Ann Chewning, 69, unexpectedly passed away peacefully at her home on September 26, 2023.
Sally was born in Charlottesville, Va., to the late William T. (Spike) Chewning, Jr., and Nettie Proffitt Chewning on May 23,
1954.
Sally graduated in 1972 from Lane High as a LPN. She graduated from Tidewater Community College as a RN. She was
currently a psychiatric RN at the Virginia Center for Behavior Rehabilitation
Sally resided in Buckingham, Va., with the loves of her life, a house full of dogs. Sally loved to read and was a devoted
Redskins fan. Sally was a faithful member of Jefferson Park Baptist Church and then University Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sister, Lee Reinhardt (Peter) of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two nieces, Catherine Shake (Bill) of Fairfax, Va.,
and Lauren Fernandez (John) of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and a nephew Lt. Col. Bradley Greaver (Laura) of Chesapeake, Va.;
and seven great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her cousins, Edna Jones, Penny Davis and Judy Karl; as well as
many kind and caring neighbors and friends who brought her much delight.
Agraveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Oakwood Cemetery in Charlottesville.
