Ward Graves Chapman, Jr. (Cubby), age 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Brightview, Well
Spring Village, in Staunton Virginia.
Ward was born in Harrisonburg, Virginia on October 12, 1932 and resided in Waynesboro, Virginia for over 60 years. He was
born to the late Ward G Chapman Sr. and the late Esther Bricker Chapman of Harrisonburg.
Ward graduated from Harrisonburg High School in 1950. He graduated from Newport News Ship Building Apprentice School
in 1956. He retired from GE/Genicom after 35 years of service in 1991. Ward was an active member of Waynesboro Church of
the Brethren. In his walk with the Lord he strived to be patient, understanding and compassionate to all. He was a devoted
husband, father, grandfather and had many lifelong friends.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dale Byers Chapman his high School Sweetheart and the Love of his Life. He is
survived by his two sons; Michael W. Chapman and his wife Brenda of Baker, West Virginia, Jon P. Chapman and his wife
Shirley of Waynesboro, Virginia; two grandchildren; Benjamin P.
Chapman (Sommer) of Waynesboro, Virginia, Kaitlyn M. Chapman (Tre) of Scottsville, Virginia; brother, Richard L Chapman
and his wife Cathy of Port Republic, Virginia and many nieces and nephews.
Agraveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, October 2 at Eastlawn Memorial Garden in Harrisonburg, Va.
In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to Waynesboro Church of the Brethren or your favorite charity.
